About The Homemade Experiment

The Site:

Hi, my name is Lance. I don’t come from a super green, or even a particularly healthy background.

I want to change that.

I know I’m not alone in feeling that way, lots of people out there want to lead a more healthy life too. That is why I started this site, to share what I learn as I try to become a more healthy and conscious person.

I started The Homemade Experiment as a place where I can share the recipes and homemade products that I’ve found and tried out myself.

I chose to start making my own homemade products for a couple of reasons, mainly cost and health.

Buying healthy products can become expensive very quickly. Making things yourself can help to save money and be healthy at the same time.

The products that are readily available for us to buy in stores are loaded with chemicals and compounds. I am not a scientist, doctor, or health professional of any kind. I am just one man trying to live a healthier life. I’m not on a crusade against chemicals or corporations I just want to know what it is that I’m putting in and on my body, and what I’m using in my own home.

The Homemade Experiment is my own journey and exploration of going back to basics, learning how to make things for myself, and becoming more educated about the food and products that I eat and use.

The Mission Here:

To teach and show as completely and simply as possible how to make your own homemade goods.

There is a lot of good information out there on the internet that covers the same things I cover on this site. But making things homemade can be intimidating. I know it is for me. I never even dreamed of making a loaf of bread. It always seemed way to hard, and way to time consuming to even try.

I want to help make the choice to make your own homemade goods as unintimidating as possible.

I will do my best to walk you through each recipe or tutorial with clear individual steps that are illustrated with pictures to show you exactly what to do so that you don’t have to be unsure or guess at what exactly you are supposed to do.

Me:

I’m just some guy.  I love reading, cooking, and drinking coffee. I love learning new things all the time, and I like trying to find new solutions to problems, that’s part of why I started this site. I have a Bachelors Degree in Communications. I am married to my wonderful wife Kelsey who is an accountant. And, I have two kitties named Houdini (because he’s good at hiding) and Miss Bennett.

One way to live more organically and economically is to grow your own. Herbs are easy to start with and then you can dry your own to use in some of the things you've mentioned here on the site.
