About The Homemade Experiment

The Site:

Hi, my name is Lance. I don’t come from a super green, or even a particularly healthy background.

I want to change that.

I know I’m not alone in feeling that way, lots of people out there want to lead a more healthy life too. That is why I started this site, to share what I learn as I try to become a more healthy and conscious person.

I started The Homemade Experiment as a place where I can share the recipes and homemade products that I’ve found and tried out myself.

I chose to start making my own homemade products for a couple of reasons, mainly cost and health.

Buying healthy products can become expensive very quickly. Making things yourself can help to save money and be healthy at the same time.

The products that are readily available for us to buy in stores are loaded with chemicals and compounds. I am not a scientist, doctor, or health professional of any kind. I am just one man trying to live a healthier life. I’m not on a crusade against chemicals or corporations I just want to know what it is that I’m putting in and on my body, and what I’m using in my own home.

The Homemade Experiment is my own journey and exploration of going back to basics, learning how to make things for myself, and becoming more educated about the food and products that I eat and use.

The Mission Here:

To teach and show as completely and simply as possible how to make your own homemade goods.

There is a lot of good information out there on the internet that covers the same things I cover on this site. But making things homemade can be intimidating. I know it is for me. I never even dreamed of making a loaf of bread. It always seemed way to hard, and way to time consuming to even try.

I want to help make the choice to make your own homemade goods as unintimidating as possible.

I will do my best to walk you through each recipe or tutorial with clear individual steps that are illustrated with pictures to show you exactly what to do so that you don’t have to be unsure or guess at what exactly you are supposed to do.

Me:

I’m just some guy.  I love reading, cooking, and drinking coffee. I love learning new things all the time, and I like trying to find new solutions to problems, that’s part of why I started this site. I have a Bachelors Degree in Communications. I am married to my wonderful wife Kelsey who is an accountant. And, I have two kitties named Houdini (because he’s good at hiding) and Miss Bennett.

Thank you for this site! I have been using natural products for a while due to the inability to be able to use most products on the shelf. I love how you have gave the best ideas and explanations on why and how. I wanted to say thank you for not making your site complicated and on my level. Keep going! Thanks again!

Hi Lance,

I hope you're well.

I just came across your blog by researching homemade air fresheners and I have to say really love what you're doing! I run a small upcycling art company called www.bigprintlittleprint.com where I produce artwork onto book pages which is in a simialr space I guess. I'm not really sure if there is much in the way of us collaborating but I just figured I'd let you know I am a fan and to keep up the great work.

All the best, Richard

Hi Lance, I came across your site after buying some soapnuts and needing instructions. I'm relaunching a project called Jurassic Airlines which, via a pop-up airport, takes people back to the origins of the Jurassic Coast onboard a flight simulator. We often have to fly into the future where we discover the impact of our historic living practices and want to empower people with positive solutions that mitigate future dangers. I'd like to feature some of your ideas in our 'Duty Free shop' area. Your site is an inspiration and we'd like to help you get the word out to save us all going extinct. Would be good to have you onboard!
