Here is a quick selection of resources from The Homemade Experiment to get you started!

– Posts To Get You Started –

The first thing I every thought about making was homemade laundry detergent. When I considered making my own laundry detergent I was intimidated. I searched around the internet and found recipes for laundry detergent that had ingredients I had never heard of before. And, although laundry detergent is relatively easy for me to make now (I promise it is) I was a little intimidated.

These posts are intended to be the opposite of that experience. I have picked a few of the easiest homemade home goods on The Homemade Experiment to help you get into the spirit of making things the homemade way without being intimidating. All of these post are super easy, only take a few minutes to make, and use ingredients that you probably already have laying around the house (probably in your kitchen).

These are where you can find all post relating to a specific topic.  There aren’t many yet, but this will grow, I guarantee it!

– Baking Soda –

One of the things that really surprised me when I started to make my own home goods was that there are some superheroes of the homemade cleaning world which will clean just about everything. Baking soda is one of those miracle cleaners.

Until I started The Homemade Experiment I had only ever used baking soda to fight odor by sticking a box of it somewhere smelly, or very occasionally in a batch of cookies. To my surprise I found out that baking soda can do so much more. Here you’ll find The Many Uses for Baking Soda, at least the ones that I have explored so far.

– Coffee –

I never really drank that much coffee. One day my then future wife and her family started giving me lattes and cappuccinos every time I was at their home, and before long I was addicted to coffee. Not too many years after that my wife and I moved to the Portland Oregon area, and for those who might not know it’s a coffee paradise, thus solidifying my addiction to coffee.

Here you can find many Homemade Coffee experiments I have tried from roasting, to brewing, and storage. With an addiction like mine there is surely more to come!

– About The Homemade Experiment –

I’m just a guy who decided he wanted to make his own stuff at home rather than buy the more chemical laden options from the store. I’m no expert, but I’m learning, and I hope through this site you can learn with me.

If you want to know a little more about The Homemade Experiment, or if you want to know a little more about me (Hi, I’m Lance), then check out my about page.

That should be enough to get you started.  There’s more here at The Homemade Experiment than what I’ve mentioned on this page so have a look around and try making something new!

just found you while looking for sugar scrubs...I too have started making my own...from food items to liquid hand soap. I make my own yogurt. It's so nice to have control over it all. I also make my own hummus...I like it better than any I have had. I have been a repurposer for several years now and making my "own" is just an extension of that. Love your site. Thanks

This is really helpful site! I'm looking to make my own products and am so happy I found your page. :) I just put some baking soda and tea tree oil in my workout sneakers and am following your recipe for a natural shoe deoderant. They already smell much better and I'm going to let them be for the next 24 hrs. I will follow your recipe to clean and deoderize my shoes now every week. Thanks again, and I look forward to trying all of your other recipes...
