Homemade Clay Pore Cleansing Facial Mask

I'll admit it, I've got some nose pores that tend to be a little more dirty than I'd like.  It isn't a huge deal, but it just seems like I can't ever really get them scrubbed clean.  Store bought face wash only works ok.  Over the years I've tried a ton of different products with more or less the same result of not as clean as I'd like.  So, when I came across a simple homemade pore cleansing solution that was just powdered clay and apple cider vinegar I decided I should give it a shot.

As a guy I haven't ever been overly eager for a “facial” before, not anti mind you, I never went out of my way to get one though.  For some reason, lately my silly nose pores have seemed a little more uncooperative than usual, so I decided to give this homemade pore cleansing clay mask a shot.

Here's how to make your own simple homemade pore cleansing face mask:

Time: 5 min

Like I said, this is a really easy and only needs:

You will also need a mixing bowl to mix in, something for stirring like a small whisk or a fork, and measuring cup.

– Step One –

Add In Clay

For this recipe add in equal parts of calcium bentonite clay and apple cider vinegar.  Using a 1/4 or 1/3 measuring cup should make enough for a whole face mask.

The calcium bentonite clay in this homemade pore cleansing mask recipe is what will help to draw oil, dirt,  and other icky things out of your pores.

– Step Two –

Add Vinegar

Next add in an equal amount of raw apple cider  vinegar.  I like Bragg's apple cider vinegar for this homemade pore cleansing mask.

When you pour the apple cider vinegar into the clay it will get all fizzy, apparently.  I had no idea that would happen, but don't be surprised when it does that for you!  ;)

The apple cider vinegar serves as an astringent in the pore cleansing mask.  An astringent is something that will tighten and shrink your pores.

– Step Three –

Mix

Next stir the two together.  If you've got the ratio right they will mix together into a nice even paste.  At first it is still a little bubbly, but after a few minutes and some more stirring it will turn into a very smooth paste.

– Step Four –

Use It

Together the calcium bentonite clay and the apple cider vinegar make the perfect pore cleansing combo.  They pull everything out of your pores you don't want, while at the same time tightening your skin and shrinking your pores.

– How's It Work? –

I wasn't really sure what to expect, having never had anything like a facial before.  I'm not macho man, so I gave it a shot!  And, I'm glad I did.  I think that this little homemade pore cleansing mask really does get the job done.

I didn't pull out a micrometer to measure pore size or anything, but in general my nose pores seemed smaller and definitely more clean for sure.

This homemade pore cleansing mask was by no means a miracle cure.  Pores didn't disappear completely leaving only baby smooth skin behind, but it did make my skin better and that's all I wanted!   In the end my face felt cleaner and my skin felt happier.  That's enough for me!

I have since used this homemade facial again with the same results.  I'm really impressed that this actually works.  I don't know why, but I think I was a little more skeptical about this mask working than I should have been.  It helps, that's for sure!  I don't know if it will make a big enough difference for everyone out there, but it works well enough for me!
