How to make homemade charcoal shoe deodorizers

DIY Activated Charcoal Shoe Deodorizer

In my ongoing saga to find the best shoe odor eliminators, this week I tried making my own homemade activated charcoal shoe deodorizers.  Charcoal has long been used as an absorber of nastiness from being used in medicine to treat various types of poisoning (more on that here in a dense medical research paper), filtering filtering water and alcohol, as well as dozens of other uses.  I’d seen some fancy pants charcoal shoe deodorizers for sale on Amazon from Moso Natural which look great.  In the end I decided to make my own charcoal shoe deodorizers with some handy supplies I had laying around. These are a great shoe deodorizer option if you are looking for a diy shoe deodorizer without baking soda.

Homemade Shoe Deodorizer Sachets

I recently did a post on how to make your own homemade shoe deodorizer powder which works great.  But there are some shoes that I wouldn’t ever want to dump a load of powder into, and I’m sure you probably do too.

So to solve that problem, I came up with my own solution for homemade shoe deodorizers which doesn’t require you to pour powder into you shoes to get those unpleasant smells out.  Instead the end result is a tidy little bundle that works just as well and looks a lot nicer than a pile of powder too, and you can make them in whatever fabric you like.

Homemade Carpet Freshener Powder with Baking Soda

This homemade carpet freshener is another great example for just how handy baking soda is around the house, and how it’s certainly not just for baking.

Carpet gets dirty, that’s unavoidable.  Every day as we come home we bring a little bit of the outside world into our homes on the soles of our shoes.  Vacuuming will suck up all the dirt and grime that finds it’s way into carpet, but over time carpet can get smelly.  Having feet, house pets, and who knows what else on it will eventually leave your carpeting smelling a little less than fresh.

Never fear!  A good carpet freshening powder can work wonders deodorizing your carpet and leaving it smelling better than the day you bought it.  Here’s how to make your own diy carpet freshener powder.
